Hallmark Store Closing Sale

Because of age and health reasons and after 16 years in business the owner of Afton’s Hallmark decided it was time to close. They tried unsuccessfully to find a buyer and were searching for acceptable alternatives.


In early October of 2009 GA Wright was retained to help plan a Store Closing Sale to be conducted over the holiday selling season that year.

The owner’s daughter-in-law helped with the sale and had this to say, “During the peak hours between 10am when we opened and 2pm there were as many as 150 customers in the store grabbing up bargains then standing at the check out counter for up to one and one half hours to check out.  It was a zoo that first day and a huge logistical problem, but we somehow managed and got through it with more dollars in sales in just that first day than we have ever previously done in an entire month...”
